Editing has begun on Act 2, although having to juggle getting our old house ready for sale definitely keeps progress slow. Fortunately, I'll be starting a much needed break from work soon which should immensely speed things up! More importantly, I've had some important conversations with my brother who provided some much needed reality checks on the pacing for getting through the editing process. The simple fact is that I will definitely need another developmental edit after I finish draft 2 due to the amount of things I've added to the book. This will likely take at least a month to complete. I'll have to go through and make changes based on that feedback, and then there is also line and copy editing, and finally proofreading which will likely take another month or two after everything is done. Thus it seems quite likely that the book may not be releasing till Spring of next year. On the plus side I feel like this gives me plenty of time to build up marketing momentum for the book. Plus, taking the time to get it right will mean less regrets about things I might have missed if I had rushed the project. So, a very large thank you to my brother for the reality check! Adjusting my sights on this new timeline feels like the right move, and I'll keep plugging away at things steadily.
