Hurry up and wait seems to be the theme right now! With my downtime, though comes all sorts of fun rabbit holes to dive own to continue building out the universe. When I initially started looking at where this series would go, it began to feel very much like a prologue to the Culture series of novels from Iain M. Banks, one of my favorites of course! However, the more I thought about it, the more I started looking for ways to make my universe more distinct. I don't know if I can ever live up to the sheer eloquence that Mr. Banks pulls off in his novels, but I am much more confident now that my stories, while inspired by the Culture, will have their own flair and charm.

Firstly, I have identified four series of books that I want to write in this universe. The first three will all be one big story arc in each series, with elements crossing between the series in places, and ultimately setting things up for the fourth series. That final series will be much more free roaming, with each story standing on its own and not directly related to each other.

I already have some great ideas for books in each of those series, and am considering how I want to approach writing and releasing all of these things. Oh, and I uh, may have the bare bones of a fictional language for my future civilization planned out... See? Downtime is dangerous!

At any rate, I will be re-focusing on the next book in the current series in the coming weeks prior to my beta reader getting back to me with her notes.
